Prem Mandir is a stunning Hindu temple located in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is a modern marvel of architecture and a major pilgrimage site dedicated to Radha Krishna and Sita Ram.

History and Construction

 * Founder: The temple was established by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, a revered spiritual leader. It is maintained by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat, a non-profit trust.

 * Timeline: The foundation stone was laid in 2001, and the temple was inaugurated and opened to the public in February 2012, after 11 years of construction.

 * Cost: The construction of the complex cost around ₹150 crore ($23 million).

 * Architecture: The entire temple is built with pure Italian marble. It combines Rajasthani and Gujarati architectural styles, showcasing intricate carvings and detailed craftsmanship. The main temple structure is 125 ft high, 190 ft long, and 128 ft wide. The walls of the sanctum sanctorum are 8 feet thick to support the huge shikhar (spire).

Deities and Depictions

 * Main Deities: The ground floor of the temple houses the deities of Shri Radha Krishna, while the first floor is dedicated to Shri Sita Ram.

 * Artistic Carvings: The exterior walls of the temple are adorned with 84 panels depicting the pastimes (leelas) of Shri Krishna, as described in the Shrimad Bhagavatam. The complex also features life-size models of various events from Lord Krishna's life, such as the Govardhan Leela, Raas Leela, and Kaliya Naag Leela.

 * Gardens and Fountains: The temple is surrounded by beautiful, well-maintained gardens and fountains.

Key Attractions

 * Musical Fountain Show: A major highlight is the musical fountain and light show held every evening. Water jets, lights, and music synchronize with devotional songs, creating a spectacular visual experience for visitors. The show timings are generally from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the summer and 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the winter.

 * Illumination: After sunset, the entire temple complex is lit up in a vibrant array of colors, which is a magnificent sight.

 * Satsang Hall: A large, pillar-less, dome-shaped satsang (lecture) hall is being constructed next to the temple, which will be able to accommodate thousands of people.

Timings and Entry Fee

 * Timings: The temple is generally open for darshan from 5:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

 * Entry Fee: There is no entry fee to visit Prem Mandir.

 * By Air: The nearest airport is Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi (approximately 150 km away). From there, you can hire a taxi to Vrindavan.

 * By Train: The nearest major railway station is Mathura Junction, which is well-connected to major cities. From Mathura, local transportation is available to Prem Mandir.

 * By Road: Vrindavan is well-connected by road, and you can reach it via state-run buses, private buses, or taxis from nearby cities 

like Delhi and Agra.
